side projects/ and or future projects.

hey i wanted to post my side projects and future projects so i figured i whould make this thread where everyone can post there side and future projects. i am not sure if this belongs in this particular secion, if it dont feel free to move it. any way heres pics and description of whats going on on my bench.

this is a tamiya sorer 3.0gt, it has been custom painted with my new vl airbrush and compressor (my previous airbrushed models where done with an aztec 320 and a air can, lol) it has full engine and will be very detialed, i will also be making a new turbo as the kit one kinda suck's. hope ya like this one. ohh and i never even dreamed i whould be getting paint jobs like this, but ever since i grabbed the airbrush it has come very easy to me.

ok this next one is a toyota 4runner, it is still in the putty stage's, i have been working on this for atleast 3 weeks now.

this is a 69 camaro rs, it hasent yet reached its putty stage's, gonna shave a few things to clean it up, color will be h.o.k ultra orange pearl.

ok now this one is still not in its putty stage's also, gonna do the same as the camaro, not yet decided on color.

Re: side projects/ and or future projects.

i have kinda lost interest in models, but i still have a few more to work on. Right now i'm working on a 1979 Mustang Cobra, with '99 17" Cobra rims, '99 Cobra 2cam V8, and a custom molded body kit.

I also got a diorama im working on, and I plan on building a Lexus LS400 and a 92 Mustang GT.

I've lost interest in models for a while too, but I'm getting more involved with R/C racing and model trains, so at least it's not for the worst.

Re: side projects/ and or future projects.

I have one side project at the moment...a Johan Rambler wagon. It will be a quickie "slammer" for the Heartland Nationals show next weekend in Kansas City.

It's lowered with Hoppin Hydro 24's Monster Tora rims. Paint will be HOK Violette Pearl with Limelight Pearl in the side coves. Sorry, no pics yet.

Other future/ongoing projects include a 1971 Chevelle SS. Built from a mint unbuilt MPC annual, this one is inspired by the Chevelle featured on TLC's "Overhaulin" show. Paint will be HOK Candy Brandywine with Silver SS stripes and Aoshima Altstadt rims.

I also have a AMT '57 Chevy Bel Air in process at this time.

It is lowered with Pegasus Torque Thrusts all around. Front tires are Revell Acura rubber bands and the rears are Pegasus on narrowed 23" sleeves. It will be painted with Tamiya Bright Red.

What's on your bench??? Marc

Re: side projects/ and or future projects.

Hmm. JDM, I'd like to know how you prepare your airbrush, paints, etc. Do you use primer, clear? Do you thin your paints a lil thick or real thin. I've been trying to use mine more often, but it's starting to piss me off.

Side: ZEXEL street R34, Super Stallion Stang', Trueno drift, Trueno sbc drag car

Future: Revell Enzo, Revell Gold nascar (for freind),
Irridescent Veilside R32, Amt 57' chevy and that's it for now. Maybe a 55 nomad.

well the first thing i do is take it apart and clean each separet part (even if it was perviously cleaned), then i thin the paint 50/50 or untill it is like milk, yes i primer and i clear cote. if your going to use dry perals or flakes you may want to thin the paint 60/40 or agian untill its like milk. what kind of airbrush do you have? i used a cheape one for about 3 weeks and hated it, if you have a cheap one all its gonna do is piss you off, invest in a better brush.

Nice 69 camaro, sounds awesome!

What I wanna work on right now is my 1970 camaro Z28, its a big, and very expensive job. I want to detail everything to the max this time and get something period perfect. Its gonna be a 1980's style street/strip weapon. I'm going standard interior with maybe a rollbar, racing wheel and some extra gauges. I'm currently looking for a More detailed 350 Chev engine, something like out of a revell. I'd like to have a go at wiring, get a detail set from MCG and wrap up my exhausts in BMF. I'm also trying to save for some equipment so I can make resin copies of the Z28 spoiler and Baldwin Motion Hood so I don't end up wasting any kits.

On the side, I'm going to try putting a 428 cobra jet engine into a Mercury Cougar Eliminator. Its from the '69 mach 1 kit and looks like it'll go straight in. I'm waiting for good weather so I can strip that horrible primer off and start again.

Future projects? I'd like to do a 'modern' 69 camaro with a Mechanical fuel injected big block Chev, roll cage, big race rims and rubber, the whole shebang. I'm waiting a while for that one.

phew. you awake? how bout you?

Re: side projects/ and or future projects.

I just decided to buy a r32 gtr v-spec for no reason what so ever. I might grab the front bar off it and chuck it on my s15, not really sure.

None; I've packed all my stuff up and put it in storage for a while. I'll be back to building one day...
