Whats the Difference Between....

whats the difference between 205/40/16 and 225/50/16 sized tires???

is it width or rubber grade?

205/40/16 = 205mm wide tread, 40mm tall sidewalls, and a 16in inner diameter

225/50/16 = 225mm...

rubber grade is determined by letters, and you'd have to ask someone w/more knowledge than me to get the run down on that

i guess what i was asking is whats the difference between the 225 and the 205

also will the size of my rims effect the calibration of my spedometer?

THE 40 DOES NOT MEAN IT HAS A 40MM SIDEWALL!!!!!!

IT MEANS THAT THE SIDEWALL HEIGHT IS EQUAL TO 40 PERCENT OF THE TIRE'S WIDTH!!!!

225 is much wider than 205, and the size of the rim could affect your your speedo, but it all depends on if you get the right size tire.
