Paint doesn't stick to the body

Some of you should notice that i have a CWest FD3S progress thread but haven't update it for quite a while.. the reason is i'm having BIG problems with the paints and i've just stripped the body the 4th time last night

Apart from the 1st one (i have to repaint it because i was trying a different spray paint which doesn't turn out really good), i've to strip and repaint the body because of the same bloody reason .. the paint doesn't stick to the body and removed by the masking tape everytime i do the window frame

I was thinking i must have done something wrong .. like maybe i didn't clean the body good enough after the paint stripping, or maybe didn't wait long enough to let the primer/paint to cure... but then i've make sure i did everything right in every single step.. i've cleaned the body throughly using water + a bit dishwashing liquid, sand the body lightly again using some 800-1200 grid sandpaper, make sure the body is completely air dryed (leave 1 night) then primer it, wait for 2-3 days then do the colour coats, and then wait for 1 week (then 1.5, then 2 weeks) before i try to do the window frames.... but then i still remove the paint everytime i remove the masking tape (i'm using the tamiya one btw)

i did my other models (the 2 S15s + the Mugen Beat) following exactly the same steps.... and i always use the DupliColor primer and colour spray cans and never have this problem with my other models and i was actually using exactly same can of primer for the Beat and FD3S so i don't know why.... so maybe the FD3S doesn't like me? or maybe the plastic Aoshima use doesn't like the duplicolor paints? if anyone can give me some suggestions or better solutions.. i'll be really happy

Did you try spraying in light coats first, then do the wet coats.

yes...
primer: 1-2 mist coat + 1 heavier coat
colour coat: 2-3 mist coats, then 1-2 wet coat

and 20 mins between the coats

which is basically the same as what i did to the other models as well. So it seems there is something wrong with that FD3S body?!!! i know there are heaps of ppl here building/built the CWest FD3S, so do you guys have any similar problem or is it just me??

I'll try the Tamiya paint this time and see if it fix the problem

If you soaked the body in the stripper too long, it might have impregnated the plastic therefor repelling any paint adhesion.

i only soak it in brake fluid for 1 day the longest.. and i then wash it under warm tap water then soak it in warm water with dishwishing liquid for a few hours then rinse it again using warm tap water...
so maybe it's not enough???

Is the primer coming off as well or just the paint. The only thing i can suggest is a dodgy batch of paint, despite it going on fine with your other model. I can't see any other reason why, the surface would need to be badly contaminated with grease or such like for it to happen and it sounds like you have done everything to prevent that, its not like you are handling the model immediately after a major oil change on your car right? What's even more confusing is that it keeps happening I don't think the plastic being impregnated with stripper is to blame coz why would it of happened in the first instance

Try a new can of primer and paint and see how it goes.

I have read your thread over and over and cant seem to come up with any reason why this should be happening.
You are doing everything right. Maybe a FOTW said and try a different spray can

Do you scrub the part when you are rinsing it, or do you just run it under water? There may be a brake fluid "film" that isn't allowing adhesion. Scrub with a soft toothbrush.

Other than that, use Tamiya

the primer came off as well and yes i did scrub it using toothbrush when i run it under warm tap water

i guess i can only blame the paint and i'll repaint it using Tamiya paint this time and see if it fixed the problem

I think that what's wrong is the primer not the paint because you are lifting both the primer and the paint so the culprit must be the primer.
