2003 Silverado Trans Temp Gauge

Has anyone installed a Transmission temperature gauge on an 99-03 silverado? I know I can buy the factory gauge clusters on ebay. The only cluster I like is the SS cluster but I don't want white faces. Plus the gauge clusters are around 300. I can buy an autometer gauge and pod for around 75. But the shop I buy the stuff from can't seem to tell me how I would go about installing one. Thanks for any information.

USSpeedo will install one in your cluster if you send it to them. I don't know the price, you'll have to call them. I've been searching my arse off for a cheaper way to do it too, but haven't found anything yet.

I posted a link a couple weeks back from another forum where a guy explained how to install an autometer trans temp gauge and sender with a 4L60E. There is a port on the driver's side (I believe) of the trans case that had the same thread size as the sender.

You'd think I could easilly find that link now.....I remember I just did a search of the web.

I can't find my original. Here's a couple other threads from other forums. They all say to hook into the service port half way up on the driver's side.
