The 96 5.7L engine was an LT1. It was good for times in the low 14's to high 13's, depending on the driver and conditions.

Thats really good for a stock '95 LT1 powered F-body - especially with those incredibly tall 2.73's (that still doesn't sound right).
I think only a Formula could pull that off(they were the lightest). Are you the original owner? Could there be any mods done you may not know about?? Regardless, that engine must have been babied over the years. How about weight - you must not have leather in that thing. Do you strip it down, take the tire psi down, and run it on fumes to get those times? Eh, I'm not knocking you Scott85, I'm really impressed with that time. I can't seem to get more than a 13.8@101Mph from my car with my 2.93's and minor mods. Hell, with the kind of times your stock motor is pulling you'd be able to really bring those down with a gear swap and simple bolt ons. Bye the way, what gear/RPM are you in when you finish the quarter mile??????? AND, at what speed does your third gear shift at(into fourth) on the highway???? |

I bought the car from a dealer and it was in excellent condition, especially with the miles on it. I could tell the person took care of it , but babied it, it drives like it has 50K on it instead of 122K . The only options that it doesn't have (that I can tell) are T-tops & leather . The car is stock as stock can be (well, when I ran it) . I just did the TB bypass, removed the silencer off the the elbow, test pipe instead of a CAT , Dynomax Ultraflow muffler & removed the MAF screen. I have to get a 160 stat, CAI & get it programmed(still has the speed limiter on it) and then I'm going to take it back to the track. Hopefully, i'll be in the mid 13's. I'm not sure what gear I was in , I can't remember if it shifted into 4th or not. |

If you're running 2.73's, there's no way you could be anywhere close to getting into 4th gear or even into 3rd gear for more than a couple seconds (I realise your car would shift at or before redline). This is why I'm curious - I wanted to know if you were possibly running out the 1/4 in 2 gears! If you're well into 3rd gear at the finish line you can't be running 2.73's. How do you know they are 2.73? To find out for sure check the options sticker inside the glove box and look for one of these codes: GM1 = 2.59 GU2 = 2.73 GW9 = 2.93 G44 = 3.07 GU4 = 3.08 GU5 = 3.23 GU6 = 3.42 GM3 = 3.45 Based on your details and the year of your car I wouldn't be surprised if you had 3.23's - but 2.73's were definitely in some 95's as well. |

shift points
My 95 TA's shift points are 1st to 2nd at ~45-48, 2nd to 3rd at ~90. Haven't gone for 3rd to 4th, but I would guess about 120 or so
Haven't had a chance to get goin that fast I'm gonna be heading to IRP(my local track) to hopefully race on Tuesday(first time ) and I'll post my results if everything goes well. I hope my car would shift to 3rd before the 1/4 mile is up because when my car shifts, it jumps forward. That would shave off at least 1/10th of a second, no doubt about it. I raced my friend's modded 94 mustang gt and when he'd shift, he'd fall further behind; when i'd shift, i'd jump 1/2 a car length on him

Hey T/A Dude, so are you running 2.73's in that thing? (First of all, its auto right??) You are going to be in for a bloody surprise when you try to run out 3rd gear on the highway. I did it last summer for the first time - 2nd gear shifted into 3rd gear at about 85 Mph, and the car got up to 145 Mph @ 6000 RPM when 3rd gear finally ran out and 4th gear kicked in. I was like, hol-y shit!
You'll probably bury the needle and still be in 3rd gear - FUCKED! |

I checked the options sticker in the glove box when I first got the car, it has the 2.73s.
