Help with the 86 in Initial D V.2 (arcade)

First off, I'd like to say hi. I'm completely new to this forum, and there is a lot of interesting topics. Then this forum caught my eye. I loved both versions of Intial D Special Stage in the arcades, and I'm running an AE86 with about 100,000 points on it, and an FC with 300,000 points on it. I was wondering if anyone can help me with this though. The 86 is much better than the FC, until I got the racing engine installed. Now this thing does not accelerate until 8700 (8750- ish) RPM's, and everytime my friend bumps me into a wall, I drop below the powerband, and it's really frustrating. I can't seem to get around this, so I'm searching for some advice on this 'treasure'. Any help from 86 users would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Since the powerband is really high, rev the car high at the start and keep it in the powerband. Just like in the anime, you should be shifting at 11k rpm, in the higher gears, anyway. The earlier ones should be done at about redline or so.

Believe me, I figured out real quick when to shift. The problem is keeping it in the powerband. I've heard the 86 was difficult to drive in that game... guess they were right.

ok, lets see here.....

AE86, well its not known for its powerful takeoff so that explains why its hard getting the revs back up to speed after hitting a wall. Many cars arent effected much by the wall that much as long as you dont go headfirst into them, the 86 is different.

Also, it may not be as bad as you think, maybe it just seems crap because you are used to the FC and your opponent taking off at high speeds.

wish i could be of more help but i dunno much about ur situation
