Using Body Filler

Alright, searched google I dont understand that shit. I have 6 small screw holes left over from my old pair of hood pins. I understand the basic part, put the body filler over it in thin layers, after that drys should i apply the hardner to it and then sand it? but if im forgeting anything please let me know.

no you mix the hardener and the putty together... and in like 10 min it'll start to dry out... and you have to make sure you sand it good and smooth, if you can feel any lines you'll see lines, and remember the more you put on the more you have to sand off...

okay, what grit sand paper should i use? a buddy of mine said that since its such a small area to only use 600 then 1000? does that sound right? and im guessing that ill have to remove the paint over the area thats getting sanded.

if its actually a hole goin all the way through you'll want to tape the back side up first, then pre mix your filler and apply to the hole, but try and shape it right the first time so you dont have to sand it down alot, then get some 100 grit sandpaper to shape it, 200 or more grit to smooth, and then primer.

If its only screw holes you wont need to do layers of filler, 600 or 1000 grit wont help you at all if it isn't the right shape to begin with.... are you gonna paint it yourself????

While we're on the topic, I got 5 screw holes about 1/2 inch wide from a spoiler I used to have, and you can't get to the back of it to tape it up. What should I do?

you need to sand or grind the surounding area down, take a hammer and tap it down so it is a low spot, use some fiberglass and resin to seal the hole then do body filler, if you just fill it the outline of the hole will come back
