amp wiring with ac

for all of those whose have wired up amps and have ac, where did you run the power wire for the sub through the firewall? With all the AC shit coming through, there seems to be very little space for the wire to fit through any existing hole, and I don't really feel like drilling a new one.

DO NOT DRILL A NEW HOLE.....just run it through another hole....there should be atleast 2 holes....1 on the drivers and 1 on the passenger side.....and if you have problems just use a fish line (or coat hanger) and pull the cable through.....if you are using 4awg then try to find a new hole.

where I ran mine was through a rubber gromet that's about 5 inches below and a little to the right of the windshield wiper motor.... it's about 2 inches wide.
If I remember correctly, it's the perfect place to run any size wire you need to

Then again, my brothers car doesn't have A/C, so that may be where all the hardware is supposed to run through... in which case, I ran my power wires in my 98 Civic right in with all my A/C stuff through the fire wall, and have yet to have any kind of problems (and that's using 0g wire).

yeh I used a rubber grommet with 4awg wire. works fine. there are plenty of places. dont be afraid to splice a grommet to make the hole larger either.

just above the ecu in the pass side is a grommet big enough for 4ga, it comes out into the engine bay near the passanger shock tower.

Well, I'm not sure how the AC is routed in a hatch, but I just wired the amps in my sedan, and it was a pain in the goddam ass to get the wire through the fire-wall. I ended up locating a grommet just behind the glove-box. Inside the engine bay, it's just behind the passenger side strut-tower, tucked down inside there. Tough to get at, but finally got it... Maybe you've got something similar in your hatch? I know that grommets are easy to find in my Si hatch, but I don't have AC in there, so I don't know what the subtle differences would be.

there is a bigass grommet in the hatches... no such thing in the sedan... and there's nothing wrong with drilling a new hole as long as you aren't an idiot and use a rubber grommet and make sure it is sealed and shit.

I have a DX sedan, not a hatch, and I found the grommet behind the pass. strut tower, but never took the time to find where it came through inside the firewall.....i guess i'll try running the wire through there then.....in my old sedan i just punched a hole in the grommet that all the AC shit runs through, so i had it easy then, but the AC shit messed those plans up

Yeah, what I did was poke a hole in the grommet and then run straightened length of coat-hanger through it, and saw where it came out on the other side...

One thing though, in the sedan, under the carpet up by the fire-wall, their's some kind of weird rubber barrier that I had to tear up a little bit to see where the coat-hanger came through.

Once the coat-hanger was partway through, I bent the end of it into a hook and crimped it over the wire that I was trying to run through the hole, and then just pulled the coat-hanger the rest of the way through, bringing the end of the wire with it.
