4-2-1 vs 4-1 HEADER!!
Can anyone list the benefits of 4-2-1 vs 4-1. I've seen a good post about this before but can't find it. I want to buy some headers for my 96 ls sometime this month. Also is name brand vs no name brand an issue here or they pretty much all similar in performance gains. So hear's my question in short.
1. 4-2-1 or 4-1 2. Ceramic or SS 3. Name Brand or Generic |

4-1 header is for top end. So since you LS doesn't rev like a GSR, get a 421. Ceramic is much better, SS turns funny colors. And get DC sports header, not expensive but not cheap crap either. It's like 300 something I think for ceramic.

so for my gsr it would be better to get a 4-1?

Thats a 421 header...
you know that right? 41 header has all the tubes directly connected to the collector, in that pic the 4 tubes Y into 2 pipes right before the collector-making it closer to a 421. |

Umm....no it's not a 4-2-1. It's my 98 Spec JDM ITR 4-1 Header. I guess you've never seen one before. It's the only pic I had of it before I installed it but when you look into the 2 1/2 in. collector you can clearly see that the 4 pipes meet right before the collector.

This maybe a stupid question but why don't sports cars come with a header? I can understand the intake reason due to hydrolocking but y not a header? My guess is cost but I'm wondering if there is more to it than that. Ne wayz your thoughts

intake means you'll hydrolock your engine? no.
get a bypass valve if you have a cold air intake or get a ram air intake... |

They do come with a header.
I take it you mean a performance header...No but really, I think it probably has something to do with tieing in with those stupid Cal. emissions. Cause I know Honda has more money in research and developement than DC Sports has. So if it's not that, I'm lost. I think they may have gotten it right with the RSX though. I remember the first companies developing an aftermarket header for the RSX had a hell of a time actually outperforming the stock setup. I think the first one released added like 1.5hp and dropped torque by like .5ft/lbs. Not worth $300 if you ask me. But an intake on those things gives like and instant 12hp or something along those lines. |

im guesing you aren't sure what a header is, its the part on you engine that lets exhaust move out and down to you cat, look under your car and you'll be able to see the end part of it

its true a intake give the rsx type s one hell of hp increase of 10 hp intake only. The Headers are hard to beat the best i seen the headers do for hp is may be 5 hp
