Celica 3SGTE into the MR2?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if it'd be possible to put the Gen IIIa 3SGTE from the JDM Celica into the US MR2. From what I remember, the Gen IIIa 3SGTE is the most powerful of the 3SGTE's. If you're just swapping the actual engine into the MR2 it should work, correct? Thanks in advance for any help, everyone.

Yes, lots of guys have done it. Go to my message board and look under the MK2 forum. Detailed instructions are somewhere there.

Thanks, Bill. I'll make sure to check that out.

Tercel GTS, do you know what the differences are between the US's MR2 3SGTE and the Caldina's? I'm just wondering if there are any internal differences between the two engines, and whatnot...

So, even if the Caldina engine were swapped into a US MR2, it probably wouldn't make 260hp, would it? Would it be possible to swap it into a US MR2 and use 91 octane with it? What would have to be done so that it could run on 91 octane?
