Dragging Integra Gsr

Hi,

I just got a 2001 integra gsr ( completely stock ) and i took it to the track last week and my best quarter mile time was only 15.9 @ 89mph. From doing reasearch on the internet , my car should do it in 15.6.

I cant understand the problem ( and yes I consider myself a good driver). I drop the clutch at the start at 4500rpm and i shift at about 8100 rpm.
Can Anyone help me!, the only thing i can think of is that i should feel out the clutch rather than popping it. Also i have 35000miles on the car and i havent changed the spark plugs yet, since i heard that integras come with 70000mile spark plugs, can this be the problem, does anyone have any tips on how i should launch the car and can STOCK gsr owners give me thier times.

Thanks.

You will prob never get it down much lower launching at 4500 rpm, but I dunno try to feather the clutch and keep the car in vtec, ie: let the clutch slip a little to keep the rpm in the 4500+ range while launching, I have headr that this works well but i don't know b/c I have no vtec

Im not a GSR owner my-self, but my best friend has a stock GSR except he put on an Injen CAI a few days ago, or i put it on for him lol. Ne way you should be running far faster, then high 15's his best run when his car was completely stock was a 14.9. If you could post the stats of your time slip like your 60ft, 1/8 mile, and reatction time we could see where you could improve on. It could also be where you ran your car at wheather has a lot to to with how cars run, luckly for where we run our cars, the track's elevation is 0 meaning it is at sea level so the cars here run faster then the cars at higher altitudes, because the higher you go the thiner the air gets making it harder for the car to breath. I my self have ran a 16.4 in my DX at that track. Ne way post your slip, and keep practicing.

When my gsr was stock i used to run 15.7-15.9 its impossible to run 14.9 on a stock gsr the best time you'll get on a stock gsr is probably 15.6

Dude, Civic Si's run 15.6 stock. If what your saying is true i should be running mid 17's with my car, which isnt the case. I run 16.410 in my Dx with 106 h.p. and like 90 ft/lbs of torque, your car has 170h.p. and 127 ft/lbs of torque. Just get used to your car more and youll do better.

P.S. a local shop around here ran a completely stock GSR before they turbo'd it and they ran a 14.7 with full interior and everything. go to www.groundzeromotorsports.com i think there still hosting the video of there run.

Just a few suggestions here

1) How much tred is one your tires, are they good tires and did you have the right PSI in the tires

2) Get a tuneup it does wonders and you'll get better MPG when it's done

3) Practice your launch.

4) Different tracks =s different times
