Bigger wheels

I got pulled over the other day and since i live in such a small town all the cops know me and my car so they noticed my new wheels. They told me i could be ticketed for not putting a new gear or something in my car to compasate for the bigger wheels, something about the speedometer not working correctly is this true?

well in a way, yes this is true. If you increase the size of your wheel/tires over all its not the same because it takes longer for the wheel to do a complete circle. So you either have to get smaller Lowprofile tires to even it out. eventhough you have bigger rims your tires are smaller so you really didnt get anybigger or get your speedometer adjusted
