Volvo 850 Turbo Estate
The body is ready for painting. I am going to paint it in dark green pearl because my gf wants it in this color. In Tamiya terms X-5:1 + X-13:1.
The problem I have now is the type of Tamiya paint to use. Is enamel fine? I don't think acrylic is the way to go. I read the FAQ again and found out the following. Quote:

I would go with the green and more so using the acrylic personally, easier to clean-up and dries faster. You will probably get the same look as with enamel once you polish it.

Dark green pearl would look nice on it.
I'll be waiting to see how yours turns out.

Thank you all for the color choices, but this one is going to be dark green pearl.
It was a busy weekend so not much progress. This is how it looks after a few coats of X-5:1 + X-13:1. I will let it dry for 2 weeks just to be sure it is dry. The body already spent like 12hrs on top of the dehumidifier. ![]() The interior is half finished.

The interior is done.
I just made the stupidest mistake in my modelling life. Instead of applying Modeller's decal fit to the wood trimming decal for the dashboard, I somehow grabbed the wrong bottle and applied cement instead. ![]() I think I am cursed or something when it comes to decals.

Interior looks fine! Did you paint over the decals?

Back in the 80's there was a company that produced a 240 promotional model (not a kit) . . . I just can't remember their name. ![]() *EDIT* Here's one up for auction on Ebay! |

Cychalen (wow, spelled it right on the first try), it looks great and you shouldn't have been worried at all about using enamel. I've trophied in contests with cars painted with Testors Model Master enamel a couple of times. It's all in body preparation and proper drying time.

Mopar Muscle Maniac, I did not paint over the decals. Glue was applied to the decal first so the dashboard escaped from disaster.
Octagon, thanks for the reassurance. I forgot that X-13 was a metallic paint and polished it. I repainted the body and now it is drying. The body color has less metallic blue this time. I will post a picture later. This is all for now. |
