Volvo 850 turbo + trailer w/ Volvo 850 BTCC

Hi,

last sunday was a very nice and soothing day, so I decided to go for a drive.

Near the Rhine River I discovered something interesting - and was so
glad that I had my digicam with me. I took a couple of pictures and thought
I would like to share it with you guys...

Allright, I guess you figured that seeing this this particular combo in real life
is somewhat unlikely ;-)

A few details:

The metallic red one is a TAMIYA VOLVO 850 turbo
I lowered it just a tiny bit and put some goodies on:

- Thule roof box
- front air dam
- navigation system in the center console
- headrest TV's
- separation between trunk and interior
- BBS box in the trunk
- wood on the dashboard
- real carpet

The metallic blue one is a TAMIYA VOLVO 850 BTCC
I built it mostly OOB, just added a diffusor and a front lip

The trailer is scratch built from Evergreen styrene and painted silver.
The rims are from TAMIYA's HONDA Prelude XX. I also weathered
it to make it look like it has been used quite a bit.

Thank you for watching. Feel free to comment.

Cheers from Germany
Sebastian

WOW. That first picture totally threw me off, I thought you were going to talk about how you saw those cars and were going to build a scene like it, I had no idea till I saw the closeups that those were the actual models. Fantastic!

Man, I saw the first picture and I thought it´s real, great job !

What I think is funny, that the car is from München, the trailer from Hamburg but the BTCC has an American plate.

Very cool! Have you got any WIP pics, as I'd be very interested in seeing them

Love them! 850s are truly classics and bests of Volvo. Those things (Turbo ver) can really go... something like 155mph out of 222hp turbo engine...the square overall design doesnt seem to be a factor...

Excellent job!!! To be honest I thought they were real cars. I have this model kit too and your post is inspirational to try doing a great job just like you.

Best regards from Mexico!!

Whoa! Really nice work. The cars are both great, but the trailer, being scratchbuilt, is really impressive.

Great photography and even better build duo! I once owned a Cross Country and every time i see a 850 wagon i tear up a bit. Fabulous builds and photos! Thanks for the memories!

Re: Volvo 850 turbo + trailer w/ Volvo 850 BTCC

Thanks for the kind replies guys

Unfortunately i don't have any WIP pics

The blue one was build several years ago when I didn't have a digicam.
It was back then when I didn't know how to build up a good paint job,
it is sprayed straight from the can...I didn't even sand the body beforehand.
You can also see the taillights are painted with normal red paint instead of Tamiya clear red.

If you look closely you can see the differences between the two models.

The red car and the trailer have been build on a schedule for last years' show in
Frankfurt, I simply forgot to take WIP pics as I was in a hurry

Ahhh...BTW: Has anyone a rear wiper for the turbo? I just realized that I forgot it and I can't find it anywhere
