I was just curious on the process people have to go thru to build a dragstrip. obviously land is one. Things like safety, specs, equipment.

ummmm?

I have NOOO clue really, it shouldnt be that hard if you have the money, however for safety u may want dividing walls to seperate the lanes, and maybe even concrete walls to to keep the cars from spinning out and hitting potential spectators.

You probably also have to have legal work done like some type of saftey release in case someone gets hurt so you dont get sued

I think the land would be the hardest thing to acquire. Not only do you have to find a plae that can actually fit a strip, but it has to be faaar far away from things such as residential area's and such, where noise would be an issue. Also, not only that but you have to find someone who will sell it to you. Not an easy thing to do, since if they sell you a section of their land they're basically destroying the profit potential of all the land around that section because of the noise factor again. AND if they sell you ALL of their land, the people who own land AROUND theirs will likely object...Once again because of the noise and crowd it will draw. If you can find the land, and you have the money, they rest is easy I would think. Just go to any track and take note of everything they have so you can add it to yours

i bet there are experts that specialise exactly in this kind of thing......you might want to contact SCCA or NHRA and they could point you to someone.....

BTW one way to get your land neighbours to support you is to point out to them that with your strip nearby they can raise small business like gas stations, fast food franchise ETC....

Yeah, maybe they would help fund it if there was something in it for them!

you can get a timing tree for about 900...but its the insurance that screws you voer more than anything....

I was asking because my future father in-law was curious. he noticed that all the tracks are far away. the closest 1/4 mile a few hours away and he was thinking that we are really close to charlotte and that would be good business. i doubt he'll go thru with it though just and idea. would be sweet as hell haveing a someone in the family who owned there own drag strip though

oh my lord that would be very nice to know someone who OWNED a drag strip. but yea i think it would be quite expensive to start one up. but yea who knows wat the future holds? i think u should get in contact w/ some local strips and ask them about it.....although they might not like the idea of helping out future competition!!
