Flashing Check Engine Light - No Trouble Code

'02 bought in '05 4.3L 6cyl 97k mi

A year or so ago, the Check Engine started flashing when I wound it up to 3000 rpm and at about 90 mph for about 20-30 seconds. I slowed and the flashing light went out. Ran OK.

Yesterday, uphill, against the wind at about 2600 – 2800 rpm and 75 mph it happened again, I slowed and the light went out. Ran at 75 mph no problem

Both times, I scanned and found no trouble codes. The truck ran fine and runs fine now.

Any ideas / suggestions? Thanks.

pcm is flashing as a result of what it perceives as a random misfire, scan it for misfire counts.

...Also a lean or rich condition beyond range. It's a warning of a pending code, not a stored code.

A good scanner will display pending codes as well as stored codes.
