Lancia Delta S4, 1/12, MFH

Second finished MFH kit in 1/12 this year...this must be some kind of a record
I just love Martini livery cars and couldn't resist to get this one too. Basically the car is very similar to 037 and I had kind of deja-vu, when starting the build. Some things are improved compared to 037, but some went in other direction, like white metal rivets (I must be some kind of rivet nazi with this two kits but I hate rivets at this moment, drilling holes and inserting those darn things ), for this price of the kit they must put aluminum rivets, even thou I understand the logic, it is much easier to cut and adapt white metal ones, but casting is not as perfect as turning aluminum.
Engineering of kit and some complex parts is done better and general fit is one level up. Decals are still very rich which is good but, sometimes on sharp turns you need a bit more patience. Kevlar decals included are not enough to cover everything you need to cover, so I had to buy one more sheet.

Let start with pictures...

General look of the car is very good, some details for hard core fans could be better, like door to rear side window line and front hood line to windshield but this is minor details if you ask me and depend on the corner that you look car from.

I think that front suspension is a bit too low but everything is set to spacers that are included in kit and frankly you can't alter the height too much on suspension.

Some details

Lot of details all over the kit, MFH really did fantastic job, you only need to add missing wires, some small things here and there but generally you get everything in the kit (except the aluminum rivets )

All lids open and close very well, I only had problem with rear hood... again, that is fitting so tight on the rear mesh part that I had to sand down two parts that were touching the mesh once the hood is close. Other then that, no other interference between parts.

Now fully open pictures

I did slight weathering on the "under the body" parts, because I didn't do it on 037 and it look a bit artificial, or too clean, I am sure it is better to have model that look like real car, and real cars are a bit dirty underneath.

And for the end, two beauties side by side

That's it, now I wait for HF Integrale

Excellent build. Lots and lots of details. Looks like a real car. I have never done 1/12 scale, really wanted to try one.

Congratulations Sasa, fantastic job. Thanks for the family portrait. What astonishes me is that the 037 is not particularly smaller than the S4. Of course because it's basically the same car.

Thank you guys.
You are right Chris, I also thought that 037 is a bit smaller, but it is only lower, much lower.

Stunning model and build. Congratulations on building two beautiful Lancia's. Pity the WRC doesn't have exciting cars like these any longer.
