97 Cavalier, Battery Tray Suggestions
The battery tray on my 97 Cavalier has been to hell and back (it's completely rusted through) and needs to be replaced, but I can't find anything online specific to my make/model. What I do find are generic battery hold down trays such as Camco-55394-Standard-Battery-Hold-Down. Yet, I'm not sure a hold down will work because my battery is being secured to the tray by a base clamp.
Should I expect any random one I find at Napa to work just fine or are there other considerations I should look into before I go shopping around for a replacement? I just remembered that it appears the battery is being ground to the tray so a plastic hold down like the one I linked would leave that issue unsolved. |

Re: 97 Cavalier, Battery Tray Suggestions
Grounding should not be a limitation. A ground cable can (should) be attached to the engine AND a solid point on the chassis/body. The battery tray should really only serve its primary purpose.
