Turbo Time

How long should I wait for a turbo to cool down before I shut off my car. I hear times of around 5 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

A good turbo timer shoud've been your first purshace along side the boost guage. They determine how long the car should run, and it will do it with the key out of the ignition, and arm your alarm when it shuts the car down.

But letting it run 5 minutes before and after should be good.

If you stay out of boost, with little load on the engine for the last little while you drive, you should have no problem with oil coking.

i say if you are running on boost b4 you shot off your car 5 min is good but if you are running off boost 2-3 min is good.

Christ dude, unless you drive around at 20psi, and whip into a spot with an e-brake, and kill the iginition, 5 mins is a little excessive. Remember, these things are water cooled as well....

Back when I had an EGT guage I found that it only took a minute to get temps down to 500c (normal idle temp for my particular car, YMMV) even after hard driving. If you havent been boosting in the last few minutes of your drive, like my place, in a residential area, then just 20-30 seconds will do it.
