How to remove the window motor/regulator from a 92 accord?

I have a friend who has a 92 account and the motor stopped working on her rear left window and the window was stuck halfway down. I took her inner door panel apart and detached the motor and track from the door frame, but I could not get it out of the door.

Can somebody tell me what I need to do to get it out? I tried removing it from the top, but the motor and track is too thick to fit it between the door where the window comes out and there's no way to slide it out from the bottom.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The freakin' dealer wants $400 to fix this when the part is just $120.

Hi jackasssi,

Thanks for your response. I couldn't see anyway to get it out of the bottom of the door because of all the metal panels. Do I need to remove anything else besides the interior panel to get it out? If so, what?

Hmmmmmmmm...not sure why I wasn't able to get it out. I had removed the 3 bolts that hold the motor and 2 that hold the track, but I couldn't find a hole big enough in the bottom to slide it out. I guess I'll have to look at it again when she brings her car back over.

you have to remove all the bolts from the door panel, then you have to remove the glass window from the regulator (there are two bolts, one on each side),then lower the glass all the way down and pull it back a bit, then lift it up and remove the glass. the regulator and motor come out from the opening in the door panel.

i know this because i just did that work on my car and it took about an hour, it was pretty easy.

I think I had removed all the bolts from the door panel that seemed like they all held the motor and regulator against the panel. Are the bolts that your referring to to remove some of teh metal of the door frame?

Oops, thats right the glass needs to be removed

The metal door frame is not bolted, its welded & therefore can not be removed without cutting. The frame is structure, you dont wanna start cutting that apart.

So the whole motor/regulator will easily come out at the bottom without removing any of the metal paneling?

You are correct.

the only things you should remove is the door panel, glass, & mounting bolts.

remove all the bolts first so they will be loose, then you remove the 2 bolts that hold the window, lower the window all the way down & pull it back, then lift the window out, then remove motor from bottom left opening, then put the window back in and slide it in place (into the black strips on each side),then put in the new motor and bolt it in place, then bolt on the window and put the panel back in and u r done

(into the black strips on each side),
That is a window run channel. Usually the reg. go's bad due to the run channels binding on the window. Now would be a great time to replace the run channel.
