That's what you call fun with Photoshop....

That's GTR #10R - Nick Mason's 1996 F1 GTR. Note the "K40 MCL" plate on it...

I just pulled it into Photoshop and fixed it so it's a bit more recognizable.

I didn't say the decals were photoshopped - just the color.

And it wouldn't take 4 hours to do the decals either if they were...

I found another photo on their website. This picture is a little more convincing to me that it was not just photoshoped and that the car may have actually been purple at some point. I wonder if they wrapped the car like those rolling billboards that you see. I could imagine them doing something like that as a publicity stunt or promotional thing for the company's intro party. I know that Nick Mason offers his cars for commercial use so I'm guessing that's maybe what happened in this case.

The website is www.if.com - they are basically an online bank located in the UK. I haven't been able to find anything else relating to them and the McLaren though. They do seem to like the color purple though - its all over their website.

The photo is of Jim Spowart, the Founder of Intelligent Finance.

BTW - lending credibility to my theory that this was a promotion for Intelligent Finance...

http://www.tentenths.co.uk is a website related to a company that Nick Mason started to provide his own personal car collection for use in film and the media.

Here's more of the story from their website:

Company History

Originally based on a concept close to sending one’s children out to work, Ten Tenths started with Nick Mason’s own collection of sports and racing cars as the nucleus of the fleet.

It soon became apparent that far wider range of cars was required, and a database was introduced. Friends, like-minded enthusiasts, dealers and eventually race teams, importers and manufacturers signed up.

Within two years over 3,000 cars were registered, and this list has continued to grow over the last fifteen years. It also now encompasses most forms of transport, including yachts, bikes (three seater pedal bike or penny farthing- no problem, Sir), - planes (we have access to a private WWI Airfield), and helicopters.

The Ten Tenths team comprises of three engineers, all with race experience from Formula One to Vintage Austins, and two film specialists, who apart from being mechanically minded, hold race and race instructor licences, HGV licences and most important of all, calm and cheerful dispositions.

Mike Hallowes who oversees the company has had experience as motor dealer, race team manager, service manager and location link man. He still retains enormous enthusiasm for vintage racing and rallying as well as location catering.

Ten Tenths now prides itself on being one of the leading vehicle suppliers to the media and welcomes enquiries from all areas.

"If we can't get the vehicle, it probably means it doesn't exist!"

= = = = =

Rather interesting concept. Unfortunately, they don't have many photos of the vehicles they can provide on the site. There is a small blurb about Mason's "McLaren GTR sports racing car" but that's about it.

Nope - I've never seen that photo - at least not in red. It's definitely not the Clinic Model as the engine cover on that car is fixed closed.

I hate to bring it up again, but this could be photoshopped. Based on the reflection in the side window glass I think this is the London dealer car.

I know - I'm strange like that. I'll compare this shot to all my London dealer photos when I get home. That's my theory...

It's definitely not Mason's GTR though - the engine compartment of an F1 GTR looks much different and doesn't have the side glass that seperates the cockpit from the engine compartment.
