t3/60-1 or t3/t4

Whats up guys, I needed to know which turbo would be better, one of my friends wants to trade me his t3/60-1 (.58) polished turbonetics turbo for my garett t3/t4.

The housing looks to be quite a bit bigger than my t3/t4. This is going on a my stock gsr. Will the performance be any diffrent?

t3 turbine housings don't have a .58 a/r

Tha'ts a t4 sized housing. The flanges are different and they will not intercahnge

oh, and that might be on teh big side

I saw a picture on the turbonetics website, they stated that 60-1 turbo had a t4 turbine in it. Another thing my friend said was that the turbo he had was a stage 5 turbo.

there is no such thing as a stage 5 turbo, maybe he meant a stage 5 wheel, but that's still a t3 sized wheel also.

t3 turbine housings:
.48
.63
.82
1.06

they do make t3/60-1, but it's not turbonetics

Is this a turbonetics turbo? I was a able to get a some more info on the turbo he wants to trade. It is a t3 turbo with a stage 5 wheel, and 60-1, he stated that this turbo could make up to 650hp. Would it be worth it?

very much so, i think it's a precision turbo though. That's some damn good power. But think about the racing you'll be doing first. Where do you want your power to come into play and things like that.

if it's a precision sc61, I'd say no, jsut because you have a stock GSR and will not be able to see the efficiency range of that turbo...

true, i didn't think about it being a stock motor. Although at 14psi on a sc61 a stock gsr made 340whp @ 1bar. But it's a pretty big turbo for a stock motor.

with 1 bar, any decent sized t3/t4 will make around 340whp....that's 14.7psi of boost....with a good turner, you can get way more than that out of 14psi

yeah this guy admitted to me that his turbo was going to be in need of a rebuild soon, but that he would sell it to me for 350 like it was.

ahhh, good info. I'm not the best when it comes to tuning, so i have no clue at what boost level a car is capable of making. I did not tune the car here though.
