Hasegawa Ferrari 328 GTB

Either I really suck at putting models together, or this kit has some serious fit issues. I test fit most things, but when I went to assemble the rear suspension and put the wheels on, it seemed like the half shafts were too long, resulting in some very weird suspension angles. After messing with it and trying to adjust things, the whole engine and suspension started falling apart. I super glued everything back together and now the half shafts are quarter shafts

Anyway, the body is Scale Finishes Grigio Silverstone. I had to strip the engine cover and I am getting ready to paint it again. Other than that, the interior is the only thing left.

Breaking in the new spray booth

sanding the clear coat

oustide metallic detail

This is where I am right now.

Very nice! That is a serious spray booth. Reminds me of the glove boxes at work - and we only use those with lethal chemicals!

Re: Hasegawa Ferrari 328 GTB

Thanks guys.

It's an Artograph 1530, then I build an acrylic box around it, with sand blasting-box rings to put my hands through . We have a serious dust issue and I can't paint bodies without getting stuff stuck in them. I'll post some pics in the general forum.

Re: Hasegawa Ferrari 328 GTB

Here is the engine cover sprayed for the second time, before the clear coat. This would look good as a satin finish paint job

This is the clear coat I have been using. Super easy to use.

Here is the engine cover after clear. It will need some light sanding and polishing.

This is where I paint

This is my airbrush setup. When not in use, i disconnect the airbrush and the air hose goes in the drawer and everything is out of the way.

Re: Hasegawa Ferrari 328 GTB

Here are the last little bits.

I took some aluminum rod and hollowed it even more by shaving away the inside wall. I made a circular razor blade

So I could punch out little masking circles for the amber taillight lenses.

I also foiled the headlights, which I should have done to the taillights, but I realized it too late.

I will post the finished pics in the other forum.

Re: Hasegawa Ferrari 328 GTB

Well done!
I'd almost forgotten all the fit issues I had with my build.
The rear suspension, while accurate, is much more complex then it has any need to be.
I've got their 348 in my kit collection and even seeing what can be done with that kit (here) I've always found some other kit to build first. I've no idea why this one is such a PITA, the 944 it was very nice and a curbside Toyota endurance car I built was a breeze to build.
