D15B Non-Vtec to Vtec
I have a D15b Non Vtec that I need to replace due to high milage. I have been seeing a lot of D15b Vtec motors available for cheap so I plan to use this motor as a replacement. I just want to make sure that I got my stats right on the swap, so here it is.... I can just pull the old motor out and replace it with the Vtec version and still use the stock ECU, Harness and Tranny. To make the Vtec solenoid work, I can use an RPM activated switch which MSD makes (meaning the Vtec solenoid is running independently and only activates when the RPM switch turns it on, range of 4600-6800 ). I'm not sure if there is a difference with the distibutors, but other wise the stock harness should plug right in to the Vtec D15B engine right ? Basically, the Vtec solenoid is the only thing that is not tapped in to the ECU and harness. Sound simple enough, but If there is something not right let me know.
