i have a 88 regal. one owner before me and he was a school teacher who never drove it hard nor have i. the car is at 253k right now and just starting to fade
. shows all those people who call american v6 junk.

Don't abuse them and they will last a while. I bought a 91 Beretta GT a few years ago , V6 , 5spd and with 186K on the clock. I abused the snot out of it til about 230K miles , and I mean ABUSED. Prolly woulda lasted as long as yours but it just hit redline one too many times..............

gms and fords v6 engines can last a very long time especially the 3.8.

I was talking with a GM mechanic the other day, He has a Park Avenue that comes in for an oil change every 2000 miles, with 350000 miles. The 3.8's will last forever, if taken care of, as already mentioned in this thread. *thumbsup to GM*

i think the reason ford and chevy have such a rivalry is that they build very similar engines. both widely use the 3.8 and although ford will stop building the 3.8 soon it has been a good engine.
