Talking Supra w/ LED *(12 pics)*

Finally finish my Supra, the kits was Tamiya Sard Supra. Thats my 1st time using Tamiya Compound and wax and trying the LED lights. That also my first non- box stock cars(wings and wheels from Tamiya Mercedes CLK-GTR). I m gotta try putty on my others soon.

You did a great job!

I love that car and I hate it!!!!
I tried doing a street version twice but wrecked it TWICE!
First I wrecked it because I was a noob didn't know that brake fluid could be used as paint stripper and didn't know much about modelling. Second I wrecked it because I tried to do a targa.

In a way it has helped me learned, I did a perfect targa on my 3rd supra (my AMT Tamiya conversion project)

I think I've got to tackle this kit again! Put the Tamiya engine in it.

it looks good however, you have light bleeding through the plastic from both the front end and the rear. this leads me to believe that your LEDs are a bit too bright and may melt the plastic if left on too long. but it definitely is a beauty!

Great work,

I agree with the others. The Wing is too big.
You should cover the inside with Bare metal over the LEDīs.

@apple.
LEDīs donīt get hot, itīs always cold light.

hmm... i'm not too sure about LEDs not getting hot. it depends on the LED, the voltage the LED are rated for and the current that is being drawn. in my experience, cheap radio shack LEDs do indeed get hot.

from what i understand of basic LED mechanics, the light in which an LED emits is basically an arc inside the doped material of the LED itself. in any event, whenever you have a current being drawn, it is impossible not to have heat dissipation. true that we are talking about milliamps in the case of LEDs but power dissipated is a function of both current drawn and voltage applied. i don't know what voltage they're being driven at so i'm making an assumption from the light being emitted. typical LED voltages range from just under 2v to as high as a nominal 6.3v in the case of run-of-the-mill diodes to higher voltages. i'm not saying that his LEDs will melt the plastic but from the photos, they look overdriven. this leads me to believe that the voltage is relatively high for this application and thus the potential presence of built-up heat.
