Engines in Accords

I know that the V6 Accord has a VTEC engine in it. But does the 4 banger EX or LX have a VTEC in it? A friend was saying they did but I wasnt sure if that is true or not. If they do what type is it?

thats because you dont have vtecH

you may have VTEC tho,

Varible time and electronic lift control. Dont know where the ell you got the H from. Stupid ricers think that the vtec is the god and it is the best thing since sliced bread.

The newer Accord sedans and coupes both ('98 - '02) all have SOHC VTEC engines except for the DX model which is non-VTEC (V6 has SOHC VTEC). For anyone wanting to know if their car has it, I have found going to Honda's website (http://www.hondacars.com/certified/library.asp) is good for car specs if it's a '98 or newer year since they only keep the past few years' models specs on their page.

If it's older than that, try looking up at Kelly Blue Book online (https://www.kbb.com/). Just pretend you're pricing a car and it'll tell you if it's VTEC. Won't get much more in-depth than that though. If you want more details than that, hit Honda's site for specs. If it's an older year than what Honda has in their repository of specs, then go to Google.

Smile 03 Model Year

I just purchased an 03 Accord, here is the spec's on the VTEC's for the 2003 Accord lineup:

Coupe:
-LX: DOHC i-VTEC (in-line 4) 160 Hp
-EX: DOHC i-VTEC (in-line 4) 160 Hp
-LX V-6: SOHC VTEC 240 Hp
-EX V-6: SOHC VTEC 240 Hp
-EX V-6 6spd: SOHC VTEC 240 Hp

Sedan:
-DX: DOHC i-VTEC (in-line 4) 160 Hp
-LX: DOHC i-VTEC (in-line 4) 160 Hp
-EX: DOHC i-VTEC (in-line 4) 160 Hp
-LX V-6: SOHC VTEC 240 Hp
-EX V-6: SOHC VTEC 240 Hp

I was told from the dealership when going over the engine that the i-VTEC now has a timing chain vs. a timing belt in them now.... (about time)
