Question Bigger tires? - is this possible?

Hello,

Please forgive my ignorance but I would like to know if it is possible to put a different size of tires on my Mazda Protege.

Suggested right size for this Mazda is: 185/65/14
The tires I would like to put on are: 205/70/14

If my calculations are correct, these other tires are about 1.8" bigger in diameter than those recommended for this vehicle, which would mean that the radius would increase by 0.9". Also, the width is 20 cm greater than the recommended.

I have these almost new tires lying around, mounted on wheels and everything, and I would like to know if it is possible for me to use them on this car.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

These tires are much bigger than any tire we've test fit for your car so you'll probably get some rubbing and/or bumping.

Also, this kind of a difference is going to making your gear much taller.

Not a good idea, best to sell or trade them.
