Engine Swaping = name change?

When you swap the engine in the 240sx does it take on a diffferent name? you pop in an SR20det does it become a 200SX? or and RB25det does it becvome a 250SX?

to you maybe...but the car will still have 240sx badges on it...Carfax will still say its a 240sx...

To me it doesnt matter.no matter what engine I drop in my car it still will be a 240sx

When Nissan replaced the 1.8L for a 2.0L in the 180SX, they both did and did not change the name...

they didn't change the name because people already knew it by "180SX" so often that they didn't want to up and change the name and confuse people. don't ask me. all Silvia's/180SX's sold in the UK and NZ were badged as 200SX, and the S12 Silvia was badged as 200SX over here, even the later ones with the VG30ET in them.

as for the name changing, i plan to remove all 240SX badging from my car for the clean look. i might replace the stickers in the side windows with "180SX" ones, and i'm desperatley trying to find an ultra-rare "Sileighty" centre panel for the Kouki 180SX tail-lights. these panels are super rare and were put on the limited-run factory Sileighties in Japan.

exactly.

i know of 100 places to get the lights, it's just the centre piece that says "Sileighty" that's ultra-rare. i've only ever seen one on an internet auction.

No. The Silvia is RHD. The Silvia has many structrural differences, for different safety standards

How much is the SIL-EIGHTY centerpiece anyway? since its so rare i would think that it would be pretty expensive. and im guessin that you wouldnt want to put the 180? Its more common and wouldnt cost as much! But it wouldnt be a sileightly anymore!

When you buy the panel for the kouki lights it comes unpainted and BLANK.You HAVE to buy the OEM sticker that says 180SX so it can say that.

There are also the center piece covers in CF that say RPS13.
Of course nobody in here owns a REAL RPS13

u can always have someone do someshit and put SILEIGHTY in the back.. as long as it looks professional. shit id even put nice thin-slat metal letter stickers on it if thats what it came to, id just get them professionally cut and have them fit it with 3m's strongest adhesive backing.

and it will not look like a hack job if u know what ur doing.

no, actually. they came from the factory saying "180SX". the ones that are blank that you see in some places on the internet are non-OEM knock-offs.
