AFMOTY 2013 Prize&Thoughts

While waiting for the result of last year's MOTY let's cheer you guys up with the prize.

The winner can choose any kit from MFH's 1/43 series.

For the 2nd and 3rd you can choose any Joe Honda books or a Finework egg car kit. Here's the full lineup for your convenience. Finework Products

And all top 3 winners will get their MOTY2013 badge for them to use on the signatures.

Also I'm thinking of the possibility of a 2014 calender of top 12 entries for all 3 winners and some lucky voters from a fair draw. Of course I'll ask every author for their permission to use the pictures, and it will only have a limited run to fulfill the certain needs, no commercial use whatsoever.

At last for killing the time of waiting let's have a little lookback at last year's winning works.

Jochen won last year's game with his magnificent racing porsche. Very realism damage effect and undefeatable weathering bring this model to life, a well deserve win! The WIP is worth of reading for many times.RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h

The 2nd went to JTRACING's Revell 1977 GMC snow plow, too bad his pics were no longer available and I couldn't get in touch with James.

Followed very closely was Capri-Schorsch's massive 1/8 Lotus, you HAVE to read the WIP to get the whole picture of its magnificence. Lotus 72D,Entex 1/8

Also here're a couple of badges for last year's winners. I beg your forgiveness for not doing this in time, especially Jochen, I'm sorry my friend. I've had a very tough year, too many things happened, simply no time. Hope I can make it up for you and still hope you can wear them.

The MOTY has been with us for maybe 9,10 years? It's such a lovely tradition and character of AF, a great summary of the whole year's works and a wonderful game to bond us together. We should really carry on with it and make it better. If you have any thoughts about MOTY please share them. Thank you guys! Thank you Alex, joelwideqvist and hiro!

Re: AFMOTY 2013 Prize&Thoughts

Woah, cool I love this recap! I love the AFMOTY and look forward to it every year even though I have a snowball's chance to win. I love getting to see everyone's best work. I'm disappointed that there is less and less participation every year, but the prizes get better and better (if I stick around maybe I'll get lucky!).

Thanks to everyone for putting it together, I know how much work it is and I am super impressed and thankful for you guys.

Wow, some lucky guys are going to get awesome prizes this year! Great idea about the calendar, too. I'd buy one.

Re: AFMOTY 2013 Prize&Thoughts

Which reminds me-

All previous AFMOTY entries are archived HERE, at the bottom of the Meet/Group Build Gallery directory.

Updated now to include from 2002 to 2013!

Kinda fun to go back through 12 years of AFMOTY and see what people have built!

Re: AFMOTY 2013 Prize&Thoughts

I swear, that's been there for five years now- ever since I started consolidating MOTY annually in with Meets/Group Builds. But I'm amused (and vindicated!) now that someone has actually seen it there!

Thanks for that cool badge i can use now!

And many thanks for all your hard work and thoughts you put into that contest.I is sad that there are so few entry's,i hope for more in the next years.
I would love to see a link to the full wip or gallery thread for the next afmoty. With one pic its hard to see all the work the modeler put into it.

Great idea with that calendar and what awesome prices!

Christian

Re: AFMOTY 2013 Prize&Thoughts

We received enough entries this year. It's "relatively" fewer, but the entries turn out to be just as awesome as any other years.
In fact, in 2010 there were only 19 entries, but look at the quality of builds!
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...95&postcount=1

We just have to make an announcement earlier, like Nov.1st (to urge everyone to finish their partially built kits!), and accept entries throughout December.
I think that's how it used to be back then, right?

Re: AFMOTY 2013 Prize&Thoughts

A perfect thread-title!
First of all and most important, congrats and thanks to everyone participating!!! May it be as organizer / man of action / judge or as entrant / participant.
THANKS A LOT, you know who you are.........
Let me just add some private notes. I'm very sorry for being "absent without valid excuse" in the last year. As auw12 also wrote, business, family, .......it was a tough year. Not one reasonable contribution from me...........pretty bad.
I promise some more action for this year!!!! In a few days i'll start my wip-thread of the MFH Porsche 917LH Gulf #17. A miniature out of the ordinary......
Thanks a lot for that fine badge, as schorschi already wrote, makes the bearer very proud....;-)
ALL THE BEST for the actual participants, great great work, thanks for showing up and let's have a great year with tons of fine miniatures.

Yours
jochen

Re: AFMOTY 2013 Prize&Thoughts

Let's now forget Tang's contributions to this contest. We can all praise organizers and participants, but his input to this venture has been invaluable, and his contribution - be it prizes (very cool and valuable I might add), his help and support, or his genius design work can not be overlooked. Without Tang, this would have been a much lesser contest. Thanks Tang.

And thanks to my crew this year, Hirofkd and joelwideqvist for great help in everything AFMOTY related. Couldn't have done it without you.

We have counted the votes and will announce winners shortly.
