running strait pipes?

Hi all i was told cutting your pipes off right before you cat. would not create enough back pressure and bend you valves and your engine would prolly last about 4 runs down the track. If any body knows if this is true or not it would greatly help me.
Thanks-

It's possible... i know that. I was just talking to someone about that topic. It seems it's not a good idea to cut the pipes on newer cars for easy horsepower. Newer engines are made to run better WITH the back pressure than without it. 80's camaros it was possible to do and get more power out of it. But a 96 or up cavalier would probably be better off WITH it's exhaust, a bigger one, or anything to create back pressure. Besides that, it would probably sound awful.

TOTALLY NOT TRUE I RACE A 2.2L CAV 1996 OM ROUND TRACK, IN TENN. IN FIRST GEAR ON 3/8 MILE FOR 15 LAPS, THAT A WHOLE LOT OF TORTURE AND THIS CAR IS COMPLETELY STOCK. I CUT MY PIPES OFF2.5 FEET BEHIND THE OIL PAN (GOING TOWARD THE REAR OF THE CAR) AND MY CAR HAS RUN 32 RACES WITHOUT ANY ENGINE FAILURES AT ALL, SPRAY PAINT YOUR EXHUAST STARING AT THE COVERTER AND SPRAY TOWARD THE MOTOR (DO NOT USE PRIMER SPRAY) AND RUN THE CAR A WHILE, THE PAINT WILL BURN OFF BACK TO A CERTAIN POINT WERE THE PAINT STOPS BURNING CUT THE EXHAUST OFF. IT ADDS 8-15 HORSE (DYNO PROVEN).
