detonation with no2

well i am new here and just gotta question for anyone with experience in nitrous. i put nitrous on my d16z6 with 150000miles ( i know thats alot,i am building a new motor right now, crvtec) anyways i run a 55shot zex, stock timiing and factory recommended plugs. here was the worst part i ran 87octane, very dumb i know. well surely enough i blew a hole thourgh a valve. now before this i had a very strong motor for the miles, thats why i ran a zez kit on it i thought i could handle it. so now the question is that octane what caused my detonation, based on what you have experienced?

well if you were running just fine before on 91 then i'll say its most likelly that the 87 caused it......on Fi you never should run anything beside premium.....especially if your civic already had pretty high compression...

also when you say factory recomendede plugs you mean honda rec plugs or zex rec plugs?
