Body painting

How do you achieve the same shine and gloss as they do in the shop?

My car is white and I want to fix some panels...

If you use a spray gun with air compressor can you achieve this gloss?

Because I have heard they "bake" the panels after painting or something similar that achieve the shine.

Any input that people have had with experience is welcome.

Thanks

after the paint dries you need to wet sand it with 2000, then buff it out with a wheel and a fine cut compound.

wheel and a fine cut compound.?

I know "cut and polish" just used for polishing cars//

Also if you use a spray gun do you apply a primer, gloss white then clear top coat?

Or no clear top coat?

Thanks

no if you are goin to primer it first you have to spray filler primer, wetsand that down with like 400 grit, then spray sealer primer, then wetsand that down w/ 600 grit, then paint your base coat, then clear coat and use 1500 grit to wetsand it down, then 2000 grit to smooth it, then buff it out and you will have a really really good mirror like finish, that way it best for darker color cars, but since your car is white you could prolly skip the 2000 grit step and just buff out the 1500 grit becuase you won't be able to see it.

whats gonna suck is when you fix that one part, its gonna look so much better than the rest of the paint.

how ever many coats of clear is up to you, and depending on how old the other paint is, what you do is clear the whole side of the car that you are working on, like if you are doin the right back fender go ahead and wetsand and clear the whole right side of the car, then wetsand the whole right side and buff out the whole right side, hopefully that will blend it in better, that what i do.
