Just plain tired...

Has anybody gotten to that point yet? Not physically, but mentally... I think for the first time, I have gotten tired of looking for performance mods for my Eclipse. I was looking around through various Import Tuners and Sport Compact Car magazines, looking at turbos, intakes, exhausts, you know, and i just got this look on my face like "Why even bother anymore?". Before i put my car in, i wouldn't turn down a challenge, even if i would have gotten my ass kicked. And i loved the thoughts of putting a turbo on my Spyder, but now it's like there's no point to me anymore. Hell, i have 3 tickets on my record as it is and i am just a tad over stock. The only thoughts that excite me about my car now are 2-way keyless entry (which i should be getting tomarrow), custom leather, tint, wheels, taillights, m3 power mirrors. And i don't think about going to Norwalk raceway too much anymore... it's more of just cruising down Lorain with the top down with my friends, and letting people look at my car, rather than a blur. I don't know... i guess the point i am trying to make is... I came on today... and as i looked around, I see "Engine Swap" and "Evo engine in a GSX" and "Which turbo should i get", and i wonder, am i the only one who has felt like this? I mean, it's not like i don't get the urge to hit the gas every once in a while, but i just don't feel the need for speed anymore like i use to. Anybody else ever feel tired when they think about it?

To the Dark side you must not go! Say it with me, "I will no longer look at Rice objects anymore". Write this 75 times on the black board, then you'll be ok.

Seriously, it's all about passion. How fast has your car gone as of yet? I guarantee that if you were running a say, 13.5, wouldn't you want to make this a 12.9? Then from 12.9 to say a 12.2. Wouldn't you want to squeeze any extra power or traction to cut a high 11? Once you get a basic list of upgrades on your car & learn how to tune, I can throw money on it your passion will return. If not, The Dark side you must go.

Good luck,

Rob

Your absolutely right, turboawdgsx, it's about passion, and my passion isn't in performance anymore... I don't know if i'm neccesarily heading to the dark side, since my passion is still there with looks and convenience, but performace... not appeasing me anymore. Back in the day, i've foolishly taken my Spyder to a maximum of 120mph and a high quarter mile time of 16.4. It's also not really about the learning to tune and add my own upgrades either, because i've had that through my cousins Jetta vr6. Before i had my Spyder, I was with him all summer adding to his car, and we did a lot. But even now, the end result also discourages me... that being a done in Jetta VR6 with much wasted time on upgrades. I don't know... don't think i am looking for pity, because i am not unhappy, i am just wondering if it's normal to get tired of performance, and if anybody else has felt it yet.

BTW, I saw that Spyder, it's a pretty nice piece of work, but far from inspiring to me. I don't need to be the fastest anymore. Quicker than a ZX2, 3, and 5 is okay with me.

Also, if this IS heading towards the dark side, than i hand you my light saber, and ask you to do me in.

I know where you're coming from; I sit & dream about big power, then I think "shit, the kind of money we're talking, I could buy a HOUSE"

Not saying I'd rather have a house, but I wonder where the point si, just to hit that wall those few MPH faster
