Question Decal Fit Question.

Hi folks.

Just after a bit of advice on 'Modelers Decal Fit', item MDLS103 from HLJ. I have ordered some of this stuff to use on my next few models and was wondering if there was anything to beware of whilst using it. I don't want to wreck any decals, especially as they are ST27 items that may be hard to find again.

Any tips or advice would be gratefully appreciated before I start spreading this stuff about.

I've also got some of those Gundam things coming for the panel lines. Are these OK to use over decals, for instance when the decal runs from the door to the rear quarter panel?

Thanks

Richie

Richie,

I know this wont help you but I have a bottle of that sitting on my desk but havent used it yet but I would be interested in hearing other peoples experience with it. I suppose the best thing to do would be to try it on a scrap decal just to see how it reacts. As for the Gundam marker I think it would be save enough to use over a decal. But a question to ask would be will you be clear coating over the decal I take it from your question you wont be. Again it goes back to trying it on a scrap decal.

Hi guys,
From my experience with other sitting decals products... the softening product to help the decals fitting the round or squared surffaces, cause.... they really soften it so.. when you try to move them... the decal can broke up, so.. be carefull ( I think that this time I've done a bunch of grammar errors, but.... if you dont like it.... )
About the gundam markers... of course you can use it over the decals, but again, be carefull, dont press cause you can broke the decals and you must do it before the clear, cause if not the ink of the marker will slide over the clear, so... paint the panels before the clear. Hope this helps

Richie,
You're probably better off carefully slicing the decal along the panel line with a sharp Xacto and then using the solution to conform the decal into the panel line.
Be careful using the marker over the decal as you don't want to accidentally snag on the edge of a decal and tear it away.

The pen will be fine to use over the decal as long as it is sitting down nicely in the panel line you want to do.

Thanks very much for the advice guys. I was worried about desolving decals and the Gundams 'soaking' into the decals. You have put my mind at rest!!!

As for clear coat, I've never used it and don't realløy want the first time to be on one of the Supra's, just incase!
(see the mistake above? thats a Norwegian typo, I'm trying to learn but can't even pronounce that letter!!!).

Maybe I will get another rally model to build in parallel and try on that first.

Thanks again guys.
