no, i've seen tauruses with well over 100,000 miles on it. whoever told you that is full of it. i dont' think they're that bad, nowhere close to camry or accord standards but i've seen several high mileage tauruses that run just fine.

Taurus

The bigger problem with the Ford Taurus is the transmission. If you're looking at a used Taurus, ask how often the transmission fluid was changed. If the car has over 75k miles on it, and the tranny fluid wasn't changed every 15k miles, expect that the car is going to need a new transmission.

look what this guy thinks: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t105726.html

I don't know what it is but for every few Tauruses that are allright there seem to be another few Tauruses that aren't quite right. My father says he got rich from Tauruses...especially the 90 through 93 models. Those seem to be the worse.

Is the transmission bad for all of the taurus's?? I have a 98 SE, with the duratec, and I have a hard time keeping my foot out of it, I have had the car over a year, and have had no problems with the transmission so far. it has 91,300 miles on it right now.

the tranny hasn't blown yet? man you're lucky. unload that beast on some unexpecting sucker and get yourself a Camry or a Buick Skylark.

no way, I love this car. It looks good, drives well, hadles pretty decent, has quite a kick in the pants when you stomp on the pedal, and it has the room to haul my gear for work, plus a few buddies quite comfortably. Plus, I am very partial to Fords. :jumpie:
