S13, S14 zenki or kouki???

ok people i need some help here. i'm torn between 3 versions of the 240, the s13, the older and newer model s14's. i understand da s13 is light as hell and alot cheaper to buy and stuff, but i like them ore modern features da s14 has, plus they put out more power, note i'm lookin for a badass road racer, not a stinkin piece of poo newayz, i knoe da older s14 are lighter + cheaper, but damn the headlights scare me away. even though i could put some 97'-98' headlights on there, but i'd rather spend money on the engine and such. i also knoe the newer s14 is heavier but sumone told me it'll put out more powerand has more potential. true or not, i do not knoe. plus it looks alot better. also i plan on droppin the good ol' SR20DET in there. so which version do u guys think is better. i'm guessin the older s14 but i'd like to see wat u guys think.

welcome to the board. just a few things:

first of all, can you please stop typing in slang? that may be how you talk in real life, but there's no need for it on here, especially when you jump back and forth using "the" and "da" in the same post. all it does is make your posts harder to read, create confusion, and makes you sound a bit immature. trust me: no-one around here takes people seriousley if they type in slang. thanks.

second, it really depends on how much money you have to spend. late model S14's (especially '98s) are rare as hell and are therefore expensive. S13's are comparitivley plentiful, so they're a bit cheaper, also because they're older. the middle guy, the early S14, are just what i said: middle. more expensive then most S13's, but less expensive then most Kouki S14's. in some cases, the S14 is also more expensive to mod, as some of the parts cost more (S14 SR20 costs more then an S13 SR20), so all in all, it's how much money you have to spend that counts.

ok anyways, i have about $9k saved in the bank and i have an uncle who's willing to help me out. he's in the air force and gets payed mucho deneiro. he's got a RHD 300zx so yea just had to get that out. anyways, what would be the power to weight ratio for the zenki and kouki?¿? i really have my heart set on the kouki, but like you said they're hard as hell to find. so depending if i can find a zenki in good condition i might check that out. also, does anyone know the difference between red and black top SR20DET's? is it just a looks thing or are there little differences in performance?

the blacktop is newer, so subsequently has less km usually. there are very small differences technologically, but i'm pretty sure the power output is the same for hp anyways. not too sure about torque...if you're refering to the black-top S14 SR20, then that engine has even more differences. more power, and some more technological advances.

i'm not sure about power to weight ratio, but the Zenki and Kouki have the exact same engine. DOHC KA24DE 16 valve inline 4 producing 145hp.

You could go with the S13 and mod it because you have 9,000 already and most of the time when an S13 cost real low say 800$ it's most likely because it has high mileage and so if you wanted you could just replace the engine and buy an SR20DET blacktop or redtop it's up to you...but you could even mod it afterwards with some of the left over money...would your uncle be willing to help with mods or just the car??? I'm just wondering
