new clutch
i just put in my new clutch and now my car idles about 700 rpms when just sitting there. if anyone has any ideas what this is please tell me. I f this is normal plz tell me.

That's right around where your car is supposed to idle. What was it idling at before ?

yeah 700-900 is about right

factory setting is at 850 +/- 150 rpm, so ur right where u should be.

i was wrong my car idles about 700 to 900 when i start it and when i fill her up. but then i will drop down to 300 and some times 200 usally hovers around 500 from there when just sitting at the light. i dont know what it is . I put premium because that is what supposed to be in there. i put fuel cleaner octane boost . i think i might have dirty filter or my worse fear something bigger. If you guys have any ideas to what this might be please help me out. Runs fine just when you start rough because the low rpm.

Soppose your idle is to low or high, how do you change it?

I'm having a very similar problem with my '93 integra gs-r. when i start it up it idles normal usually, when i come to a stop light it gets very eratic, dropping down very low 300-500 rpm's and sometimes stalling. it doesn't stay low though it just drops and bounces back and forth between the low rpm and the normal one. and sometimes it will idle too high like2000 rpm but usually its the drops. i was thinking that maybe i have a vacuum leak somewhere, I have heard a faint whistleing sound occasionally, i'm not sure what it is though and i could use some help figuring it out

I had that problem in my Daytona, it was the connection to the coil. But my connection is a lot different than on a 93 teg. Just givving ideas, i think it's in the ignition somewhere.

i do belive it is in the iginition somewhere.
I am going to do a tune up soon because i dont know when the last time it had one. I hope this fixes it. |

Make sure you replace the coil, that was the source of my problem.

well as for ignition i have mostly a brand new ignition system, coil, plugs wires, etc.
Not sure this i the whole problem but my water pump went yesterday, my car leaks like crazy now an i can't drive it for fear of warping the head.... I'm not sure but i believe the timing belt is what drives the water pump so if the pump was getting bad could it have been throwing off my timing? could this have been the problem all along? |
