That is a complicated question because it has so many answers. Every answer you get will be different as they depend on opinion. I would turbo it, but I really like turbos. It depends on what you like. Basically you will need to upgrade your whole driveline. Also, don't forget about wheels and tires, alot of people do, but they are the most important part of a car. Your car can have an awesome motor, wicked suspension, and unbelievable brakes, but without the traction to back them up, it won't matter. I would consult with the person or shop that will be modifying your car for you, they will suggest what they know best. Tell the shop your goals, and have them decide how to do it.

I can help you out with with the motor

W41 2.3L swap--- lower compression to 9.1:1 .... forged internals, blueprint balance the block, equal length turbo header T04e blingin on the end of it, clutch that can handle your newfound power, lightweight wheels 10-14lbs, drag radials, limited slip, 65mm throttle body, some pretty headwork, hardcore as fuck headgasket, upgrade that fuel system, some air/fuel controller, and boost controller..

shit you'll be a lot closer from where you started at

well, good luck getting there! If you do....let me know, and I will worship the ground you walk on! You will spend nearly a whole year's out-of-state college tuition doing all of the above....but if youre trying to bring your 1/4 mi eta's down THAT much <5-6 seconds from stock> youre gonna need a lot of money, and a LOT of know-how. While, I dont know anything about the 2.3L engine, I have heard that it can whoop the 2.2L and the 2.4L.

Good Luck. (unfortunately ive NEVER seen a cavalier get that low of times!) Unless youre talking funnycars that run alcohol or liquid nitrogen as apposed to petroleum fuel!

no no!!! the 2.3L and 2.4L have the same hp, but the 2.3L has 5lb/ft less torque. and the fact that it was only used for one year ('95) should tell u something about it. and as far as a turbo for it, i've never seen one, but i'm not sayin it doesn't exsist.
