how about just buying an 80 series flowmaster muffler and 4 inch hedman hedders big wazoo exhaust tips? If his car has a resonator, just replace it with a straight pipe.

Get an Edelbrock system. They are relatively inexpensive, hook-up like factory stuff, and sound really good!

I've got some friends that have Hooker systems on their 84 and 85 TA's. Both of them sound pretty mean. I have no idea what the pricing on them was though...

The hooker mufflers that will fit directly up cost about $54 depending on were you buy them. An Edelbrock is about $90-$110. Both mufflers flow around the same cfm. I have heard that the Edelbrocks are not all that loud, but the Hookers are. Is your friends muffler have a single inlet and duel outlets? AKA Cross flow mufflers....
