Turbocoupe or 5.0?

I want a fairly cheap car that I can mod, if i can get sub 15s ill be happy. I want to mainly make it a show car with a decent 1/4 run. Which would be best to do this with? I dont have a lot of money, like 2k max and Ive owned bother a cougar xr7 and a thunderbird v6.

Also if you have any other suggestions for a candidate car please voice them.

Thanks.
