Couple questions
hey guys, i'm in the hunt for a skyline, probly an R33.
What do you guys do for insurance? What is the difference between the GTR and the GTS? (probly asked before but i searched and couldn't find anything) How reliable are these cars stock or slightly modified? and the big question, Who the hell fixes these things when they break down and where do you get parts?

It would help to know what country your from
![]() First there is a huge difference between a GTS and a GTR. The short version is as follows. R33 GTS 2.0 liter RB20E (single overhead cam) 140hp 2wd manual or auto open diff (no LSD) coupe or sedan(4door) Body is all metal GTR (Same for all model ranges) 2.6 liter twin turbo (RB26DETT) 280hp "claimed" Usually around 300hp factory standard 4wd "ATESSA system" Manual only Coupe only "rare 4 door does exist but special build" LSD diffs front and rear 4ws "HICAS" Bonnet "hood", fenders aluminum Front mount I/C standard Difference in price in New Zealand Dollars. R33 GTS @ $7,500 R33 GTR from $45,000 and up Insurance will be 5x higher for a GTR at least that seems the norm depending of course on your location.

you should give motorex or rbmotoring a call if you are serious on getting one. I hear different story for the insurance back in the states. SOme sayig you can say the car is a special edition 240 or you could give them the value of your car and the insurance will give you that amount of coverage. You can get parts from the 2 company above mention and probably some parts might be able to get online special order.

RB25DET, 2.5 litre, DOHC, inline six cylinder turbo Auto or Manual transmission Approx 185kw Coupe or Sedan Nice interior, velour seats, electrics etc HICAS Obviously the GTR is the better of the two but it costs significantly more. Good luck with whatever you choose.

The yellow R33 GT-R from TF&TF looked stock to me. It didn't appear to have much in the way of appearance mods, other than the wheels and graphics. Tyndago should be able to tell you more about 'Big Bird.'

The yellow car was indeed a Nissan Skyline GTR R33, the body was stock from what it looked like. Plus it was one of the only cars in the movie that was a true "10 second" car. Plus it was also the same car that won the Pikes Peak rally race a while back.

Yep, that R33 was also the only car that actuall had "Nawwwws" on it. I read an article about how they installed the direct port system in it.

You can get a GTR bodykit and fit it to a GTS-T without much hassle. I suggest a Nismo 400R kit, you wont get a genuine but there are a lot of copies around. I would also recommend getting wide rims and flaring the guards a bit for that mega fat look. I have pics of an awesome Australian drifter with this kit on it, I will post them later as I cant right now.

the only real problems come in with the side skirts. If they are designed to fit a GTR then they will not fit properly on a non-GTR. You would have to change the front guards or fenders depending what country you live in.
Front bumpers also have the same problems as both the side skirts and front bumpers are designed to mate up with the flaired front guards.
