Air Conditiong-Old vs New
A mechanic is willing to put new freon into my R12 (old) system, without converting my older system. He said it probably won't be quite as cold, but works. Is he right?
I have a '93 Taurus. Thanks, Jim |

I would use the R12 if you aren't going to convert it.

Craig,
Thanks for the reply. Can you say why I should use the old freon? Thanks again, Jim |

the old R12 actaully cools a lot better with less compression than the R134 these days. Problem is, its really hazardous to the environment, that's wy they've been switching to R134. So you give up a little cooling for the ozones sake.

Is R12 still available anywhere?
