help with D16Z6 swap....

Help on a swap please!
I've read all the swap tuturials on honda hybrid and visited the d-series forums. I also read mechanic-b's swap info and still am a little confused. EVERY place says something a little different.
I have a 89 civic lx. I just picked up a d16z6 W/everything...complete swap...I have everything from the car......block,head,distributor,vtec solenoid, ecu, and engine harness. I don't know what I should do. Should I use an 88-91 Si ecu and distributor on the Z6 and modify the engine harness or should I just do the whole OBD 1 swap. Would I encounter any problems? keep in mind that I have everything. How would I do the swap if I wanted to use the D16Z6 ecu, harness, distributor, and engine? Since I have the harness and ecu, I don't have to do and extra wiring and splicing right?
thx

I suppose that it's possible for you to use your LX ecu and dizzy, but you'd still have to buy a VTEC controller or an RPM activated switch... Personally, I would run the P28 Ecu and dizzy (from the z6), and get a wiring harness adapter from [email protected]

They're $170, but worth it since you just plug it into the P28 ECU, and then plug your LX harness into it, and then you just have to run 8 wires into the engine bay from the ECU for OBD1. Otherwise, you're going to be hacking and splicing for a while and it'll probably get you all confused...

you cannot use the PM5 ECU with an MPFI injection set up, so unless you want to keep your DX DPI injection, which ofcourse you dont, then you're going to have to swap to OBD1, or find an OBD0 MPFI set up.

I don't want to use the LX ecu and dizzy. I have the D16Z6 dizzy and ecu AND engine wiring harness. I was wondering if I coud just do the complete swap over and not have to do anything. like use the D16Z6 ecu and harness. Would I still have to get another harness and if so why?

My bad... I was thinking that LX's were MPFI...

Does anyone know about the 4 wire O2 sensor? I've been hearing that my car won't work unless I add that to the cat. But, I already have a gutted cat. Will the O2 sensor bug out if I add it? Also, If I decided not to add it, will it still start and will it trough an ECU code? I know I would need it for emissions testing but I dont' feel like using it right now.

yeah i agree, if he has the whole harness from ecu to engine, why does have have to add wires? it'll already have the plugs for MPFI and all the vtec stuff

if you use the d16z6 engine harness, i belive that the main plugs may be differnt (where the engine harness plugs into the dash harness). Even if they are the same, you'll still have to run wires from that harness into the engine bay to the ECU, as well as convert the ECU plug harness to OBD1, which means a complete rewire.

let me see if i got this, all the wire harness in the engine goes to a plug near the fire wall, then on the inside there is another plug that you plug into and go to the ecu? I thought the harness was all one long piece, like from the ecu to the MPFI for example. if i'm wrong, thanks for clearing this up, becuase i want to do the same swap
