Williams Fw14b

The start of my last build.
This time without Pe sets, just an oob build.
Just some left over parts of the PP Mclaren and Ferrari will be used, like nuts, bolts, washers etc...

Boxart:

Contents:

Decals:

Start of the engine:

Instructions say this:

So you will get this:

And as result you get a line between two parts, that once painted doesnt go away...
So the plan is to paint the suspension, and other parts that needs to be fitted, mask them, glue the white part on and fill the seem. And then paint the blue.
Because if you look at the pic below, there is no line on the real car:

Jurgen

Re: Williams Fw14b

Hey Jurgen,
I've got one of these in my stack of stuff too. That looks pretty tricky to build the suspension and everything then try to paint, decal and polish the damn thing after it is all assembled. Curious to see how you are going to do that!

Re: Williams Fw14b

Started on brakes and suspension.
Brakes recieved a left over pe disc from the Ferrari pe set...
This model will be displayed with wheels on, so didnt bother with sanding the line between the two disc-parts, just some nuts will be added:

Now that the suspension arms are painted, could start with the monocoque part, after some filling and sanding:

Progressing nicely, paint looks excellent.

Hard to imagine you really want to take a break from the hobby when you're able to produce such great models.

Re: Williams Fw14b

Hi Jurgen
Nice start on this kit
I expect it will be your usual quality even though it is OOB
I will follow your build like I did for your MP 4/6 and the 641/2

Re: Williams Fw14b

Thanks guys!

Decals are done, after first applying a small coat of 2k clear.
Fun job, placing the read-white striping

Re: Williams Fw14b

Excellent job on the decals, i can imagine a pain in getting the stripes looking straight.
