Is this safe to drive (pic)
I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes cars. What do I need to fix this?

Safe to drive? Yes and no....
If driving straight ahead, no problem..... However, if making a turn at high speed......that's another story..... The stabilizer bar, also known as an anti sway bar, prevents the car from "rolling" on a sharp turn...... So it really is not safe to drive, because in a sharp turn or emergency situation, you could possibly roll or flip the vehicle..... This should be fixed right away......the stabilizer bar needs replacement......usually both stabilizer links need replacement too.....and if the bushings look to be worn during removal, they should be replaced too...... You also have a leak in the picture.....that should be checked out too.....more than likely a PS line..... |

You can take a look at both OEM and an upgraded sway bar in the following links. Judge for yourself and take into account what's included with each one.
OEM hollow Bar Upgraded Solid Bar It will depend if your willing to install it yourself or will be paying someone else, in that case you should shop around to see who offers the best cost for labor. Oscar.

Common problem. The original is a POS. My son has just changed his on a GP 2000.
see this http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul....php?t=1085537 THe complete kit DORMAN # 927100 is available at a very low price ...verify ROckAuto. MUCH sturdier than the original. THe kit is complete with all mounting hardware . The problem is removing it because the bushings are stuck to the bar making it difficult to extract unless you have ample ground clearance...otherwise some just suggest to cut the bar in the middle...Installing is easy as you install all bushings after the bar is in place. The replacement is a little different though and when installed as indicated by markings, it will interfere with the tie rods but only at full turning right or left and with suspension totally distended.......probably not a serious problem in real life but some have installed the bar the other way around..so the hump is downwards which seems more logical to clear the tie rods. see this link http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...90#post6939890 ...my son will probably switch it around when spring comes.... ahh...and take your time. .my son drove his for months in the broken condition...
