Auxillary Battery Help..

Do any of you out there have the auxillary battery option on your Silverado?

I ordered a 2003 2500HD ext cab lb with 8.1L and Allison.
Because it was close to end of model year the factory would not install the auxillary battery option.

So, I went to the dealer and bought the Aux bat tray, relay and the (3) cables needed to install.

I put it all together and was ready to slip the Series 78 deep cycle battery in and found it would not fit.

The dealer says that the aux battery form the factory is the same as the starting battery (78) but it also is 7" tall.

To get the battery to sit on the tray I have to remove the support from the firewall to the fender. When I tried to reinstall it, I found it hit the leading edge of the battery and would not align properly, wasn't even close.

Could any of you with the aux battery option tell me how much space you have between the tray and the bottom of the cross support.

this might be a little late for you, but the bracket is just a fender support bracket, stout as it may be, i've had mine out for a few months with no problems
