[911 Tribute] Tamiya 911 Turbo Flatnose

I had to get in this too.
The kit.

This may be the simplest kit Tamiya has ever done...
First some wheel choices.

Kit wheels.

Aoshima BBS

And some Fujimi metal OZ's.

Decisions, decisions.

Yes!! I should've kept this kit!!! I see it in a unique color with the color-matched Fuchs.

Wondering if you wouldn't be better off modifying the 88 Turbo Tamiya makes? Probably has a bit more detail.

Either way, looking forward to this coming together!

As for wheels, Fuchs all the way

The '88 Turbo is also based on this Snap-Loc tooling. If one wants detail, go w/a Fujimi EM.

I thought the idea was to finish it some-time this year...

Re: [911 Tribute] Tamiya 911 Turbo Flatnose

Slant nose kits...
Fujimi EM and RS series.
This one from Tamiya.
Revell's Cabriolet.
There's the Testors metal kit too. Which is hiding in my collection somewhere, painted in guards red by the factory.

I attempted a slant nose on a revell 911 turbo kit many years ago, I ran into big problems when I was trying to cut the fender vents and never got back to that project.

I expected this kit to be about like the Fujimi RS kit, so I'm a bit disappointed with what's in the box. The only things I'm going to change at this point are the undersized tires, remove the molded in plates and add an inside rear view mirror.

Color is up to what I find in cheap finger nail polish. I bought some that may be candy apple red or may come out as guards red with just a little pearl in it. I'm going to paint some spoons on Monday.

Re: [911 Tribute] Tamiya 911 Turbo Flatnose

maybe a stupid question, but how do you paint with nail polish? do you have to thin it and spray of do you paint with brush? can you make it an expanded explanation please??

Quick nail polish tutorial: empty it into a jar; thin roughly 50/50 with lacquer thinner, test the spray pattern, adjust as required.

Re: [911 Tribute] Tamiya 911 Turbo Flatnose

I agree with everyone else that Fuchs wheels suit this car the most. Candy red seems to be a good color choice. Just curious, are you planning to paint the wheels with the same color? Can't wait to see more progress from you!
