Re: New optispark and timing chain

What was happening prior to this?

It's possible it's a secondary misfire? Bad coil, wires, plugs? Fuel pressure/delivery?

New optispark distributor(complete?) or something used?

The car was running fine. I just wanted to give it a good tune up. It's a brand new optispark. I just don't know why it is misfiring.

Re: New optispark and timing chain

Were new wires part of the tune-up?

Did the timing chain go in with the marks aligned?

No new wires were added. And the timing chain was aligned right.

Re: New optispark and timing chain

Whole lots of fail here.
The opti is blindly cursed by stupid people who are the majority on the internet and it takes newb awhile to realise it is a good piece. If nothing was wrong and you just wanted to do a tuneup on any other distributor equipped car you would have just bought a cap and rotor right? What opti did you buy? Some of the aftermarket one range from worse than stock to horrible and some of those have "performance" brand names on them.

Why in the hell would you do a timing chain as a tuneup item????? You hang out with a bunch of ricers with timing belts on their cars? Timing chain is NOT a tuneup item, it is basically life of the engine, they even get reused with cam swaps and such without issue.

I would guess this is damaged or unseated/loose plug wires specifically from all this work you just did.
