a new purchase...lotus super 7

EDIT: NEW PICTURES ADDED AT BOTTOM OF THREAD

woooo...i just got a lotus super seven from my local toy store.

i thought '' £9 for any tamiya kit is not a deal to be missed'' so i got it.

ok, so i know that £9 is actually a little expensive for this kit, but i needed something to offset the enzo i got for £32 from the same place.

unfortunately my digi cam still has no batteries, so ill just show you a pic from tamiya.

Has anyone else built this kit? if so, how did you find it, and what extra detail did you do?

iv already got big plans for this little model. i cant wait to start it

oh yea, the pic:

Great kit! You can get a better engine and a vented aluminum hood from Sakatsu!

It would be good to make the cycle fenders for it too.

I bought that kit yesterday at my hobby shop for $12 US. too!

It looks like a simple and fun build.

Thanks for the info on the engine and hood Veyron.

Have you decided on a color yet simdel1? I'm gonna do mine in royal blue. Hope to see some progress pics soon.

im thinking about yellow nose with racing green everywhere else
something like this

but i will probably try to make the roll over bar and the chrome stone chip guard on the rear wheel arches. iv already worked out how to make the stone chip guards

heres my first attempt at the stone chip guards. i stuck it onto a glue stick because it was a similar curve to the wheel arches on the car. sorry about the photo quality. my digicam has no batteries so iv used my crappy web cam. you can still see the shine, reflections and the rivets...

how new is newer? i only got it yesterday, but i think the car has been in the shop for about 2 years (they dont sell very many models)

how old does it have to be for me to worry about the fitting of the hood?

well, because of a self imposed :

i have got batteries for my digital camera...yay...

well heres a couple of pics of the box:

and the contents

and a couple of shots of the chrome stone chip guard including rivets(that i tried to show earlyer, but the cam i was using at the time was shit). by the way, the kinda dent in the middle could have been avoided, thsi is just a prototype so i didnt really care about finding the smoothest piece of foil.

I'm sure it will be a great kit and the scratch built chip guards look awesome. Unfortunately, I have absolutely zero interest in this car. I know there are people all over the world that think it's great, but personally I just don't see anything attractive about it.

It doesn't look like there's many pieces in that kit? Is it curbside??

nope, full engine detail. its a model of a kit car, so in real life it was very simple.

i dont think it that attractive either...but i just love everything from lotus.
